The Queensland Muslim Times is a Muslim community newspaper based in Brisbane and
operates as a non-
Our distribution includes all major cities in Queensland. A number of copies are also sent to the major cities interstate.
Brisbane is the predominant distribution area of which just under half of the 4500 printed copies are distributed in. The newspaper is printed every two months and copies are available for free. Each issue comprises of 4500 copies which are distributed primarily in mosques but a large quantity is distributed trough Butchers, Restaurants, and Convenience stores.
Readership extends to all age group brackets and also to the multicultural community. The majority of readership ethnicity extends to local Australian Muslims and to a large migrant population from, Egypt, Algeria, Middle East, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Fiji, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey and many more parts of the world.
About Queensland Muslim Times
Just before Ramadan of 2004 six people, Aslam Nabi, Ismael Jangda, Saaid Salie and
Dr Sadeq Mustapha, Dr Shabbir Hussain and Din Karim set out to plan and to design
the format of first registered Muslim newspaper in Queensland.

Initial financial and
moral support came from two prominent Brisbane Muslim families. Advertisers, seeing
the benefits from the newspaper’s potential circulation joined in support and have
continued to offer that support over the last five years.
The paper's first objective
was and still is to provide a useful information service to the Muslim community
as well as providing the greater Australian community with a true understanding of
the ideals and philosophies of the Muslim community.

age brackets as well as a broad base of the Multicultural community. Naturally its

The founding members of your newspaper form the directorship
and they are: Aslam Nabi, a retired business man and a pioneer in the Gold Coast
Muslim community. Ismael Jangda brought his expertise as a businessman and as an
accountant and took care of the financial affairs – but later resigned due to other
work commitment. Saaid Salie, a retired teacher with his education expertise assisted
the paper in editorial content. He was also the first editor. Dr Sadeq Mustapha is
a retired medical doctor, whose vast knowledge of the Muslim community allowed him
to be a valuable member of the directorship.
The current team comprises of Aslam Nabi; Saaid Sali; Habib Jamal, who is an accountant
who takes care of your newspaper's financial and administrative affairs; Dr Sadeq
Mustapha is the current advertising manager who is assisted by Farah Suleman; Rehana
Bibi who is the editor in chief with a substantial background in print journalism.
Rehana is assisted by assistant editors Kawthar Girach and Sarah Mehmet.
The newspaper
continues to support and participate in community activities and events such as health
awareness seminars, Crescents walk, sporting activities, youth workshops, charity
fundraisers and art exhibitions. The future promises greater community involvement.
A website will shortly be available so that our online readers can enjoy the newspaper
as well. The newspaper's ultimate goal is to develop a monthly Muslim newspaper that
would be distributed nationally, providing a platform for the Muslim community not
only in Queensland but Australia wide.
